Skidegate Social Development Department
The Social Development program primarily provides income assistance and income assistance-related support services; the staff works closely with several agencies and advocates for families and individuals living in Skidegate. The Program will be including additional services for Children and families in the very near future.
The Financial Assistance Worker (FAW), on behalf of the administering Authority, must maintain a consistent procedure to collect all necessary and relevant information from applicants in order to determine eligibility for income assistance. The primary purpose of income assistance is to ensure that recipients receive the necessary support to become independent. Every case, regardless of category of assistance, must be reviewed by the BSDW every 12 months. Files are required to be compliant with funding service policies and all documentation must be current and verifiable. A SAMPLE application kit is available to view and will give potential clients an idea of what is required to apply.
